Forty CGA members, Chestatee residents, and guests of honor Sheriff Jeff Johnson & Sergeant Randy Harkness, attended our Shop with a Cop breakfast presentation on
Wednesday, December 21st.
It is with extreme pride and gratitude to our CGA members, Chestatee residents, Judd Hughes/Bamboo Car Wash, and the Chestatee mens Bible study group that we were able to present funds to the Sheriff's Department in the amount $13,805 for this year's Shop with a Cop fundraiser. Due to your thoughtful contributions we were able to well exceed our donation last year of $10,000. Thank you again for your overwhelming contributions and support of this very deserving fundraiser.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!
Congratulations to Steve Laney on his recent hole-in-one on Monday, November 28th. Steve, who is no stranger to Eagles/Aces - this is his 6th, scored his "1" on the 15th hole (his second on that hole) with a 7 iron from 126 yards. Congratulations Steve!
The ace was worth $700 and now it's time to re-up with $10 to Keith Morris for the next pot. We will grant a two week renewal window for any ace that gets made during that period. We (the current 70 hole-in-one members) would guarantee the same winnings during the renewal window while members have a chance to renew their membership and get their $10 in for the next hole-in-one.
Lightning strikes twice this year for Jeff Eaton on the 7th hole. Jeff previously aced the hole with a 5 iron from the blue tees in the season opening SPEW tournament and duplicated the feat with a 3 wood playing in the Saturday morning, Dewsweepers Black Tee Challenge.
The ace was worth $700 and now it's time to re-up with $10 to Keith Morris for the next pot. We will grant a two week renewal window for any ace that gets made during that period. Congratulations to Brett Snyder for winning the 2022 CGOY Playoff! Brett shot a gross 71/net 63 to overtake the entire field for the victory. Brett competed in four events during the season and finished the regular season with 30 points, tied for 16th position along with two other golfers, just making the cut for the playoff field.
One of the other golfers tied for the 16th qualifying spot, Brian Caldwell, also came from the back of the pack by shooting a gross 86/net 67 to claim second place. The other top finishers were Ted Krautter in 3rd place and Damon Gibbs beating out Mike Laney for 4th in a scorecard playoff.
Congratulations to all who qualified for the playoff and we hope to see everyone at the Red Tee Tournament and Awards Dinner on November 12th

Congratulations to all the winners in our Social Preseason Exhibition Warmup tournament. It was a beautiful day to start the season and it produced a couple of notable items: 56 of our 95 members - 60% - came out to play and we had our first hole-in-one of the season.
Now we turn our attention to the start of our Match Play competition on March 26th. Remember you do not have to be available to play on that Saturday - you would still have two weeks to get that first match in. There are two weeks left to register for Match Play, registration closes Sunday, March 20th. We had a complete field of 64 golfers last year so don't wait to register and run the risk of getting put on the waitlist.
We have a winner! The SPEW tournament produced our first winner of the year as Jeff Eaton scored his ace on hole seven with a five iron.
The ace was worth $630 and now it's time to re-up with $10 to Keith Morris for the next pot. We will grant a two week renewal window for any ace that gets made during that period. We (the current 63 hole-in-one members) would guarantee the same winnings during the renewal window while members have a chance to renew their membership and get their $10 in for the next hole-in-one.
